New Mexico PreLicensing Requirements
Individual Resident Producer Requirements
To
qualify for a resident New Mexico insurance producer license, the applicant
must satisfy the following requirements:

the exam content outline and important information regarding
eligibility and the examination and licensing application process.

Exam Requirements
Certificate of Completion
The
New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance does not require a
PLE certificate of completion.
State Reporting Requirements
The
New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance does not require PLE
course completions to be reported.
State Licensing Exam
Before
paying and scheduling for an examination, make sure that you have reviewed the
following checklist:
You
must complete and submit the license application (form 210), along with any
other documentation, Examination Registration Form (found at the end of this
Candidate Information Bulletin), and all fees to the New Mexico PSI Processing
Center.

Upon
approval, you will be sent an email notification of eligibility, along with
instructions for scheduling the examination.
Methods of Registration
Materials Needed at Testing Center
You
must bring one form of a Government issued identification, which bears your
signature and your photograph. Your name as shown on the application form must
exactly match the name on the photo I.D. used when checking in at the examination
site.
Important: Application
fees are valid for six months. If you do not take your exam within six months
of receiving notification of approval, you will need to reapply. Fees are not
refundable or transferable.
Exam Fees and Test Centers
State Exam Passing Score
Candidates
must pass the state licensing exam with a 70% or higher to file a license
application.
Exam Retakes
If
you fail an exam twice, you will not be allowed to retake it again for 30 days.
If you fail an exam an additional 2 times, you will have to wait an
additional 6 months to schedule and take your exam.

New Resident Producer Requirements
A new
resident may take the license exam before moving to New Mexico. A nonresident
who is moving to New Mexico and who held a resident agent license in another
state must file a license application with a Letter of Clearance from the other
state. Contact the Agent Licensing Bureau of the New Mexico Insurance Division
at 505-827-4601 for more information.
