Mississippi PreLicensing Requirements

Individual Resident Producer Requirements

To qualify for a resident Mississippi insurance producer license, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

PLE Course Delivery

Certificate of Completion

PreLicense.com provides online, printable certificates of completion in Mississippi.  An applicant must meet Mississippi’s PLE requirements before a certificate of completion is issued.  Certificates are valid for two years from date of completion.

State Reporting Requirements

PreLicense.com reports PLE course completions electronically to Sircon daily.  The Mississippi Insurance Department charges a $4.00 per name state roster fee for course completion reports.  This state-mandated fee is included in the course price.

To register for an exam, download the PDF registration form.

Send the registration form with your check or money order in the amount of $85.00 (payable to Testing Services, Inc.) to:

Exam registrations can also be made in person at the Madison office location listed above.  Note:  The registration fee for walk-ins is $100.00 and no personal checks will be accepted at the exam site.

To avoid an additional $15.00 late fee registration must be received at least 3 days prior to the exam date requested.  A confirmation of test date will be sent to the address listed on the registration form.  Candidates must bring the confirmation with them to the testing center on the day of their exam.

State Exam Passing Score

Applicants must pass the Life, Accident and Health state licensing exams with a 65% or higher to file a license application.  Applicants must pass the Property and Casualty state licensing exams with a 70% or higher to file a license application.

Note: If applying for a first-time license through SIRCON, the PLE certificate of completion may be faxed to (601) 359-1951 or emailed to licensing@mid.ms.gov  with a request for on-line approval.

New residents will not be required to complete prelicense education or take the license examination as long as:

Nonresident Producer Requirements

Nonresident license candidates may obtain a Mississippi producer license, without having to complete the prelicense education requirement or take a license examination, as long as they are currently licensed as a resident in their home state and in compliance with continuing education requirements in their home state.
