Arkansas PreLicensing
Requirements
Individual Resident Producer Requirements
To qualify for a resident Arkansas state
insurance producer license, the applicant must satisfy the following
requirements:

Be a resident of
Arkansas
·
Be 18 years of age or
older
·
Be trustworthy,
competent, financially responsible, and of good personal and business
reputation
·
Complete an approved
prelicensing course of study (see prelicense requirements
below)
·
Pass a written
examination and file a license application
·
Disclose on the
licensure application all insurance licenses that have been previously revoked,
denied, or suspended
PreLicense Education Requirements (PLE)
Applicants must complete 20-hours of approved prelicense education (PLE) for each major line of authority
(LOA). See below for license specific PLE requirements in
Arkansas:

State Candidate Handbook
Before making an exam reservation applicants
should thoroughly review the State of Arkansas
Licensing Candidate Handbook, which contains the exam content outlines and important information regarding
eligibility and the examination and licensing application process.
PLE Course Delivery
Per Arkansas PLE requirements, applicants are
required to complete all of the lessons in the prelicense
education course sequentially before they can be issued a certificate of
completion.
PLE Course Exam
The Certification Exam must be monitored by a
disinterested third party.
Proctors must be a disinterested third party,
with Minimum age of 18 years old, the monitor could be anyone except family
members or relatives or dependents, employers or supervisors, employees or
subordinates, partners or joint ventures or co-owners, or significant others,
or for anyone in whom the proctor instructor has an economic or other interest
in assuring the successful outcome of the examination.

Passing
Score: Applicants must pass the PLE final exam with a 70% or higher to receive a
certificate of completion.
·
Reporting
Schedule: Prelicense.com will
report course completions to Arkansas Insurance Department monthly. We
will report 1st of every Month. Mandatory state roster fee of $1.00 per credit hour will be added to your order total.
Certificate of Completion
PreLicense.com provides online, printable
certificates of completion in Arkansas. An applicant must meet Arkansas’
PLE requirements before a certificate of completion is issued.
State Licensing Exam
IMPORTANT: When making a licensing
exam reservation, applicants will be required to provide their
provider school code number. Prelicense.com’s
Arkansas provider school code number is 12801.
Methods of Registration

Register
Online: Click here to register
for the state licensing exam online. Allow four (4)
business days to complete.

Register
by Paper: Applicants may obtain paper license
applications online www.insurance.arkansas.gov,
or by calling (501) 663-2878. The process of paper submissions may take up to
ten business days to complete.
·
On-site
registration is not allowed.
Materials Needed to Present at Exam Site
·
Permit to Test. (This will be mailed upon approval of application)
·
Certification of
completion of prelicensing education (Appendix 3 Form)
·
Candidates must
present two (2) forms of current signature identification. The primary
identification must be government-issued and photo-bearing with a signature and
the secondary identification must contain a valid signature. Identification
must be in English.

State Exam Passing Score
·
Applicants must pass
the state licensing exam with a 70% or higher to file a license application.
Exam Retakes
Candidates may retake the examination within
ninety (90) days of the date of issuance of the original examination permit.
Candidates may take the examination(s) a maximum of three (3) times
with-in the ninety (90) day permit period. Candidates who fail the
examination on the third attempt must wait four (4) weeks before retaking the
examination, regardless of the status of their examination permit. This waiting
period applies after every third unsuccessful attempt. Candidates who do
not pass the examination within ninety (90) days, or who do not pass the
examination after three attempts, mustsend
an application and application fees to Pearson VUE.

A failing score report
is required for exam retakes.

Candidates must

New Resident Producer Requirements
Applicants must provide a clearance letter if
they hold a license from another state and are moving to Arkansas. They should
contact the Arkansas Department of Insurance to determine whether or not they
must take an examination.

State-Required Product Training
Your state has special training requirements
in order for licensed agents to sell the following products:

Long-Term
Care: Before selling LTC
policies in Arkansas, producers must complete an initial 8-hour state
approved LTC training course. After meeting the initial training
requirement, producers must complete 4 hours of state-approved
LTC training in every 24-month period following the initial training.
